Why Brand New Iphone 4s won’t Charge

Your charger may be shorting the batteries out, especially since it happened on each unit. Something like that is extremely rare, and sounds like something else would be the culprit. Apple has a replacement program where they will ship you a temporary phone so you can send the iPhone in for repair/replacement. Call 1-800-MY-APPLE for their customer support and see what they’re able to do since you can’t get into the store.

Here are some other common iPhone and iPod problems, i have described their easily solution also.

Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch may occasionally stop responding to buttons, switches, or touchscreen input and may exhibit one or more of these symptoms:

  • Does not return to the Home screen after you press the Home button
  • Does not wake from sleep after you press the Sleep/Wake button
  • Does not turn on (or power on) when you press any button
  • Does not start up past Apple logo
  • Appears frozen or unresponsive
  • Is unable to “Slide to Unlock” or “Slide to Power Off”

Resolution

  1. If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
  2. If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren’t working as expected, restart your device.
  3. If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
  4. If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
    1. If you are using an iPad, ensure that it’s connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
    2. Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
    3. If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
    4. If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
  5. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
    1. Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
    2. If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
    3. If the device doesn’t appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
  6. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

I just got a brand new i phone 4s. i needed to charge it so i plugged it into my trucks charger. Later on that same day i needed to charge my phone again so i used my wall charger but this time it wouldnt charge. i thought it was my cord but i tested other cords and they didn’t work. I tested the cords on other peoples phones and they worked perfectly fine. i tried turning my phone on and off that didn’t work. i tried to plug it in to my laptop and that doesn’t charge it. i also tried to find my iPhone in iTunes to back it up but my iTunes won’t find it. What can i do i really don’t want to buy a new phone. am i the only person that this has happened to??

I just got my iPhone replacement a few hours ago. I turned it on at the Apple store and it was fine (wanted me to connect to iTunes).

I got home, created a new ipsw with pwnagetool while iphone was still plugged in. When pwnagetool told me to turn on the iPhone, my iPhone wouldn’t turn on! it’s been dead since.

What’s wrong and how can I fix this? Thanks in advanced for any help!

Try doing it without letting go of any buttons until the Apple logo appears. Worth a shot.
